I have over 25 years experience specializing in the biomechanics and biodynamics of human performance, particularly in orthopedic and sports performance applications. I have over 20 years of experience in advanced sports performance analysis and testing using the most innovative sports science techniques, including 3D motion measurement, inertial motion tracking, vector based kinematic analysis, inverse and forward dynamics modeling and simulation, and real-time biofeedback training to assess athletic performance and analyze injury risk. I have over 20 years of experience working with motion capture technologies including passive and active optical systems, electromagnetic systems, and MEMS based inertial motion tracking systems including system setup and calibration, data collection, post-processing, visualization capabilities, and outputting data in any format.

I have developed some of the most advanced and realistic 3D musculoskeletal models for prediction, analysis, and validation of the kinetics of human movement. My models have been used to better understand biodynamics in applications such as sports performance, athlete interaction with sports equipment, and the design and evaluation of orthopedic devices including hip and knee implants and spinal fusion devices. I have over 10 years of experience in the development and implementation of dynamic musculoskeletal models using the vectorized kinematic approach of Kane’s Method as well as the trigonometric kinematic approach of Newton-Euler and Lagrangian formulations for the dynamic equations of motion. I am experienced with the use of advanced symbolic manipulator software programs (Autolev, Maple) for biomechanical model derivation and programming of the dynamics equations of motion (Matlab, C/C++) as well as turnkey software solutions (ADAMS, FigMOD, LifeMOD).

I have over 5 years of experience completing stress analyses with classical and finite element methods to analyze various structures and products in automotive, orthopedic implant, and sports equipment markets. I have a demonstrated ability to solve both linear and non-linear stress and thermal problems. I have experience conducting nonlinear contact problems and material stress/strain relationships. I also have experience in analyzing stress changes to implants and surrounding bone in dynamic simulations, as well as analyzing bone remodeling changes due to hip and knee implants as well as spinal fusion devices.

I have considerable experience with developing and utilizing advanced analytical and computational methodologies. This includes Monte Carlo simulation methods, neural network modeling, gradient-based optimization methodologies, and custom written algorithms (Matlab, Python), particularly in rigid body dynamic analyses and product design optimization problems. I have experience implementing Kalman filtering routines for improved estimation of dynamic 3D motion data for missing and noisy time history applications, specifically for motion capture and IMU data files. I also have experience incorporating an automatic filtering and differentiation routine using power spectral assessment methods for optimal cut-off frequency selection for post-processing motion capture data. I have extensive experience performing data reduction and statistical analysis of experimental research and clinical results and conducting comparisons to advanced simulation results, utilizing custom Matlab and Python scripts as well as turnkey solutions (SAS, Minitab, R, Excel).

I have over 10 years of experience working as a biomechanical expert in an athlete’s interdisciplinary advisory team working in conjunction with nationally recognized swing coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditional specialists, sports nutritionists, sports psychologists, and/or physical therapists. I have over 20 years experience utilizing high speed video analysis for biomechanical sports performance analysis and training for the golf swing, baseball hitting, baseball pitching, football throwing, football kicking, and basketball shooting.
